Short answer

Vibe coding means describing an app in plain English and letting AI write the code. Lovable starts at $21 a month billed yearly, Base44 at $16 and Framer at $10. All three have a free plan. Lovable advertises a choice of hosting region including the EU, while Base44 stores data in the US except on its Elite and Enterprise plans.

What is vibe coding, exactly?

You write in plain language what your app should do, the tool generates the code and the interface, then publishes the result online. No text editor, no terminal, no server to configure. The trade-off comes down to one word: credits. Every request consumes some, and every vendor counts them its own way. Lovable talks about build credits, Base44 about message credits and integration credits, Framer about AI credits. Three different units, three meters that do not line up. That is what makes the vibe coding category harder to settle than a plain price table.

What can you actually build with these three tools?

Three families of use, and they overlap very little.

Lovable aims at web apps and prototypes: you describe the app, it gets built. That is where it earns its highest mark in our testing, 5 out of 5 for ease of use. The Pro plan adds custom domains, code editing, removal of the Lovable badge, and roles and permissions.

Base44 goes further on the technical side: database, authentication and hosting are included from the free plan, which is capped at 5 apps. It is the tool for internal apps that need a real back end. The Builder plan at $40 a month billed yearly adds AI model selection and GitHub integration, and with it source code export.

Framer is not in the same category: it is a visual design tool for publishing a marketing site, with hosting, CMS and SEO built in. Basic caps you at 30 pages, 2 CMS collections and 1,000 items; Pro goes up to 150 pages, 10 collections and 2,500 items.

How much do Lovable, Base44 and Framer cost?

Tool Free plan Entry plan (billed yearly) What you build with it Stacknota score
Lovable 5 build credits a day, 30 a month max Pro at $21 a month ($25 monthly) Web apps and prototypes 4.4 / 5
Base44 25 message credits and 100 integration credits, 5 apps Starter at $16 a month Internal tools with a database 4 / 5
Framer 500 AI credits, Framer domain, 1 GB of bandwidth Basic at $10 a month Marketing sites and landing pages 4 / 5

Three notes on those numbers, all checked on September 23, 2026. Lovable is the only one of the three that publishes a monthly rate next to the yearly one: $25 for Pro, $50 for Business. Base44 and Framer show only the yearly price reduced to a monthly figure, which means committing for the year to get the advertised amount. And head count changes the math: Lovable includes unlimited members in its workspace from Pro, while Framer bills $20 a month for every extra editor beyond the workspace owner.

Why is the bill still hard to predict?

Because credits do not translate into actions you can identify in advance. At Lovable, the credit cost varies with the complexity of each request: a display fix and a rebuilt form do not cost the same. Monthly credits expire after two months and are non-refundable. Pro starts at 100 credits a month, with tiers that climb to 10,000.

Base44 keeps two separate meters: message credits for your exchanges with the AI, and integration credits for calls out to external services. Starter gives 100 message credits and 2,000 integration credits a month; Elite goes up to 1,200 and 50,000. Framer is the most legible of the three: 1,000 AI credits a month on Basic, 3,000 on Pro, with the rest of the plan measured in pages, collections and bandwidth (50 GB on Basic, 100 GB on Pro).

In our reading, Framer is the one that lets you plan twelve months of spending with the most confidence, because its limits sit on objects you can count yourself, pages and items, rather than on usage that depends on how hard your requests are.

Where is your app data hosted?

Tool Where the data sits Stated commitments GDPR score
Lovable EU, US or Asia-Pacific, data stays in the selected region by default SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, DPA published online 4.5 / 5
Base44 US by default, another region on Elite and Enterprise SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, DPA on request 3 / 5
Framer AWS mainly in the US, extra regions in Europe and Asia-Pacific ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2, DPA available 3 / 5

Lovable advertises regional hosting and states that data stays in the chosen region by default, but does not say which plans open that choice. Base44 is clearer and less generous: storage in the US by default, region change reserved for Elite ($160 a month billed yearly) and Enterprise, with no published list of regions. Framer mentions no customer-side region choice at all.

If your app handles personal data belonging to customers in Europe, that row weighs more than the price gap between the three. Lovable’s Business plan, $42 a month billed yearly, also excludes your data from model training by default, and adds SSO and protected preview links.

Which one fits your situation?

A marketing site or a landing page: Framer. Basic at $10 a month billed yearly, with hosting, CMS and SEO included, plus a free plan with a Framer domain so you can validate the design before paying. Count the people who will edit the site: each one costs $20 a month on top.

A prototype you need to show: Lovable, 4.4 out of 5, the highest score of the three. Unlimited members from Pro at $21 a month billed yearly, and a free plan you can use day to day thanks to its 5 build credits a day.

A lasting internal tool with user accounts: Base44. The free plan already includes authentication, a database and analytics; Starter at $16 a month lifts the 5-app limit and opens in-app code edits. Go for Builder at $40 if GitHub export matters to you.

A hard requirement to keep data in Europe: read that row before you read the prices. Lovable comes closest with its advertised EU region, even though the plans that unlock it are not spelled out. Base44 reserves the region change for Elite ($160 a month billed yearly) and Enterprise. Framer offers no customer-side region choice.

How do you test them without paying anything?

The three free plans are enough to settle this in one evening. Pick the two tools closest to your need, build the same thing on each, then look at which one asked you for fewer do-overs: that measure, not the sticker price, is what drives your credit use once you subscribe. Keep in mind that Lovable caps its free plan at 30 build credits a month, and that Base44 stops you at 5 apps.

Frequently asked questions

What is vibe coding?

Vibe coding means describing the app or site you want in plain language and letting an AI produce the code, the interface and the deployment. You never write code yourself: you make a request, look at the result, then fix it with more requests. Every request consumes credits billed by the vendor.

Is vibe coding free?

Lovable, Base44 and Framer each have a free plan. Lovable gives you 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits a month. Base44 gives you 25 message credits, 100 integration credits and a maximum of 5 apps. Framer gives you 500 AI credits, a Framer domain and 1 GB of bandwidth.

Can you export the source code of an app built with a vibe coding tool?

On Base44, source code export runs through the GitHub integration, included from the Builder plan at $40 a month billed yearly. Editing the code is available from the Starter plan at $16. On Lovable, code editing is part of the Pro plan at $21 a month billed yearly.

What is the difference between Lovable and Base44?

Lovable is aimed at founders and product managers who want a web app or a prototype by describing what they need. Base44 targets internal tools and full apps, with a database, authentication and hosting included from the free plan. Lovable includes unlimited members per workspace, while Base44 runs on message credits and integration credits.

Do these tools host your data in Europe?

Lovable offers regional hosting in the EU, the US and Asia-Pacific, without saying which plans unlock that choice. Base44 stores data in the US by default, and the region change is reserved for the Elite and Enterprise plans. Framer hosts mainly on AWS in the United States, with additional regions in Europe, but no customer-side region choice.
