HubSpot
4.3Companies that want to start with a free CRM and later bring sales, marketing and customer service into one suite.
For most small businesses, HubSpot is the best place to start: a free CRM with no time limit for 2 users, a fast learning curve and one suite for sales, marketing and service. Zoho CRM earns the same score (4.3 out of 5) with the lowest price, $14 per user a month billed yearly. Pipedrive (4.1) is the simplest option for a pure sales team.

HubSpot tops our comparison, tied on score with Zoho CRM: 4.3 out of 5 each, against 4.1 for Pipedrive. Our grid weighs price (25%), free plan (15%), ease of use (20%), features (25%) and data protection and GDPR (15%).
With the scores level, we put HubSpot first for two reasons. Its free CRM has no time limit, so a small business can run it on real customers without paying anything. And it scores 4.5 out of 5 on ease of use, against 3.5 for Zoho CRM, which means a team adopts it faster. Zoho CRM wins on price (4.5 against 3.5) and on European hosting. Pipedrive gets the top ease-of-use score (5 out of 5) but loses points for having no free plan.
List prices are per user, which hides the real gap. Here is the cost over one year for five users, calculated from the prices listed on the official pages on September 23, 2026, in US dollars:
| Tool | Entry plan | Yearly cost for 5 | Mid-tier plan | First-year cost for 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HubSpot | Starter, $20 per seat | $1,200 | Professional, $90 per seat billed yearly | $6,900 (incl. $1,500 onboarding) |
| Zoho CRM | Standard, $14 billed yearly | $840 | Professional, $23 billed yearly | $1,380 |
| Pipedrive | Lite, $14 billed yearly | $840 | Growth, $24 billed yearly | $1,440 |
For HubSpot Starter we use the base price of $20 per seat. The page also shows a limited-time offer for new customers, at $7 billed yearly or $10 monthly, which tells you nothing about the renewal price.
In our reading, the entry plan is not where the decision gets made: the three tools sit close together there. The next tier is. At HubSpot, moving from Starter to Professional multiplies the per-seat price by 4.5 and adds a mandatory $1,500 onboarding fee. Zoho CRM and Pipedrive climb in small steps. A business that plans to automate its sales process within a year should run this calculation before signing up.
Two of the three tools have a permanent free plan. HubSpot gives you contact management, deal pipelines, import and a reporting dashboard, for up to 2 users and with no time limit. Zoho CRM is free forever for up to 3 users; we could not verify its other limits, such as storage or modules.
Pipedrive has no free plan. It offers a 14-day trial with no credit card, which is enough to judge the interface but not to run a business on.
For a company with one or two salespeople, HubSpot’s free plan often covers the starting need. For a team of three, Zoho CRM is the only one of the three that stays free.
Pipedrive, with 5 out of 5 on this criterion. Everything is built around a visual pipeline of deals: you see at a glance where each sale stands and drag a deal from one stage to the next. It is the tool a sales team can use from day one.
HubSpot follows with 4.5 out of 5, thanks to a clear interface and guided import. Zoho CRM scores 3.5: the product is complete, but the sheer number of options and settings makes setup longer. Plan for configuration time, or for help from an implementation partner.
HubSpot and Zoho CRM both score 4.5 out of 5 on features, for different reasons. HubSpot brings sales, marketing and customer service into one suite, its main strength for a business that wants a single tool. Zoho CRM includes workflows, AI agents, follow-up cadences and sales forecasting from the Standard plan, then adds quotes (CPQ) and inventory management in Professional.
Pipedrive (4 out of 5) stays focused on sales. Two limits are worth knowing: full Gmail and Outlook email sync only comes with the Growth plan, and several modules are sold as add-ons (LeadBooster, Projects, Campaigns). On the plus side, even Lite connects to more than 500 integrations.
All three vendors host European customers inside the EU, with some differences:
Zoho CRM and Pipedrive score 4.5 out of 5 on this criterion, HubSpot 4.
Whatever your profile, test with your own data: HubSpot’s or Zoho CRM’s free plan, or Pipedrive’s 14-day trial, is enough to import your contacts and follow a few real deals before you pay.
In our reading, HubSpot is the best overall choice: its free CRM has no time limit, so you can start without commitment, and its suite covers sales, marketing and customer service. Zoho CRM earns the same 4.3 out of 5 and costs less once the team grows.
Yes. HubSpot offers a free CRM with no time limit for up to 2 users, and Zoho CRM has a free-forever plan for up to 3 users. Pipedrive has no free plan, only a 14-day trial with no credit card.
Among paid plans, Zoho CRM Standard and Pipedrive Lite both start at $14 per user a month billed yearly. On the next tier, Zoho CRM Professional ($23) stays cheaper than Pipedrive Growth ($24) and far cheaper than HubSpot Sales Hub Professional ($90).
Pipedrive is the easiest to pick up, because everything revolves around a visual pipeline of open deals. HubSpot comes close with a clear interface and guided import. Zoho CRM takes longer to set up, as it offers many settings and options.
All three can. HubSpot runs a data center in Frankfurt, Zoho CRM stores accounts created on zoho.eu in Amsterdam and Dublin, and Pipedrive normally hosts EU customers in Frankfurt or Dublin. At HubSpot and Pipedrive, the location depends on your IP address at sign-up.
