What does AI actually mean in these three CRMs?

Three families of features show up in the official pricing grids: AI-assisted reports and forecasts, follow-up automation (workflows, assignment rules, cadences), and assistants or agents that prepare sales work. Pipedrive lists AI-assisted reporting from its Lite plan, at $14 per seat per month billed yearly. Zoho CRM lists AI agents, workflows and follow-up cadences from Standard, at $14 per user per month billed yearly.

HubSpot takes a different route. Its grid does not name features, it hands you a pool of HubSpot credits: 500 on Sales Hub Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise. In our reading, that is the thing to clear up before you sign. What one credit buys is not spelled out in the documents we checked, so setting 500 credits against included AI agents is not a like-for-like comparison. Ask a rep for the breakdown before you convert credits into a volume of automated work.

What do you get on the cheapest paid plan?

Sales Hub Starter is listed at $20 per seat per month billed monthly, with core sales and marketing tools and 500 HubSpot credits. Read that price carefully: the page currently shows a limited-time offer for new customers at $7 billed yearly or $10 billed monthly, which leaves the standard yearly rate unreadable on the page.

Pipedrive Lite, at $14 per seat per month billed yearly, covers leads, deals, contacts, the calendar, AI-assisted reporting and 500+ integrations. Full Gmail and Outlook email sync is not in it. That starts on Growth, at $24, along with automations, sequences, bulk email with tracking and meeting scheduling. Pipedrive’s monthly billing rate could not be read on the official page.

Zoho CRM Standard, at $20 per user per month billed monthly and $14 billed yearly, is the most loaded entry plan of the three on this ground: AI agents, assignment rules, workflows, follow-up cadences, reports, dashboards and sales forecasting. The plan by plan detail sits on our Zoho CRM profile.

Which AI features are locked to the expensive tiers?

With HubSpot, sales automation and scaling tools are attached to Sales Hub Professional, at $100 per seat per month billed monthly and $90 billed yearly, with 3,000 credits. Add the mandatory one-time onboarding fee of $1,500. Enterprise moves to $150 per seat per month billed yearly, 5,000 credits and a $3,500 onboarding fee, with its monthly rate available by quote only. The gap between Starter and Professional is the clearest weak spot in this grid.

With Pipedrive, lead generation and routing (LeadBooster), custom scoring, data enrichment, contracts and e-signatures arrive on Premium, at $49 per seat per month billed yearly. Phone and email enrichment, the sandbox environment, enhanced account security and extended phone support are reserved for the top tier, at $69. One more point to pin down in a quote: several modules, including LeadBooster, Projects and Campaigns, are sold as paid add-ons.

With Zoho, AI email insights, Blueprint guided processes and CPQ sit in Professional, at $23 billed yearly. The Zia AI sales assistant, customer journeys, territory management and the customer portal wait for Enterprise, at $40. The tier above that, at $52 billed yearly, raises feature limits without announcing a new building block, so you buy it for volume rather than for extra AI.

What does each tier cost, plan by plan?

Plan Price per seat per month AI and automation listed
HubSpot Sales Hub Starter $20 billed monthly, yearly not verified Core sales and marketing tools, 500 HubSpot credits

HubSpot Sales Hub Enterprise $150 billed yearly, monthly by quote Advanced control and customization, 5,000 credits, $3,500 onboarding fee
Pipedrive Lite $14 billed yearly, monthly not verified AI-assisted reporting, leads, deals, contacts
Pipedrive Growth $24 billed yearly Automations, sequences, bulk email with tracking, full email sync
Pipedrive Premium $49 billed yearly LeadBooster, custom scoring, data enrichment, e-signatures
Pipedrive, top tier $69 billed yearly Phone and email enrichment, sandbox, extended phone support
Zoho CRM Standard $20 billed monthly, $14 billed yearly AI agents, workflows, assignment rules, follow-up cadences, forecasting
Zoho CRM Professional $35 billed monthly, $23 billed yearly AI email insights, Blueprint, CPQ, inventory management
Zoho CRM Enterprise $50 billed monthly, $40 billed yearly Zia AI sales assistant, customer journeys, territories, customer portal
Zoho CRM, top tier $65 billed monthly, $52 billed yearly Same features as Enterprise with higher limits

Zoho’s amounts are identical in euros, so 20 and 14 for Standard, 35 and 23 for Professional, 50 and 40 for Enterprise, with local taxes on top. Its yearly discount varies by plan, up to 34%. Pipedrive’s prices were read on the publisher’s pricing page in US dollars, with a yearly discount advertised at up to 26%.

How much does a free CRM automate?

Less than the paid grids suggest, but enough to keep a pipeline moving. HubSpot’s free CRM has no time limit and covers up to 2 users, with contact management, deal pipelines, import and a reporting dashboard. Zoho CRM is free forever for up to 3 users, and that user cap is the only limit we could verify on the plan: storage and available modules are not confirmed. Pipedrive has no free plan at all, so the way in is a 14-day trial with no credit card.

Neither free plan is credited with AI credits or agents in the documents we verified. In other words, free covers filing your sales information, not processing it automatically. What tips over into paid is covered in our guide to the free CRM options.

Where does your data get hosted?

HubSpot runs data centers in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany), Canada, Australia and the US (East and West) on AWS, with new accounts assigned by IP location at sign-up. Pipedrive uses AWS regions in Frankfurt and Dublin for the EU, plus London, US East and West, Canada and Australia, with the same caveat: depending on the detected IP, an account can land in a different data center. Zoho stores zoho.eu accounts in Amsterdam, with Dublin as the secondary location.

On paperwork, Pipedrive lists ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3. Zoho shows ISO 27001 and SOC 2. HubSpot documents SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3, and the ISO 27001 mentioned on its security page belongs to its infrastructure providers rather than to HubSpot itself. That is what drives our data protection scores: 4.5 out of 5 for Pipedrive and Zoho CRM, 4 out of 5 for HubSpot.

Which one fits your situation?

A team of fewer than three people that wants automation with no upfront budget: Zoho CRM, free for up to 3 users, then $14 per user per month billed yearly for AI agents and workflows. Stacknota score 4.3 out of 5, with 3.5 out of 5 on ease of use because of the number of settings to work through.

A sales team that wants a readable pipeline and European hosting: Pipedrive, 4.1 out of 5 overall and 5 out of 5 on ease of use, provided you budget Growth at $24 if you plan to automate follow-ups. Lite on its own is deal tracking with AI-assisted reporting. The head to head sits in our HubSpot vs Pipedrive comparison.

A company that wants sales, marketing and customer service in one suite: HubSpot, 4.3 out of 5, as long as you budget the jump from Starter to Professional and the $1,500 onboarding fee.
